Director of Accounting - Country Club

Southeast Phoenix, AZ

$95,000 - $105,000


Position Summary:


As the Director of Accounting - Country Club, you'll be at the helm of all financial activities within the club. Your role will entail developing and implementing policies for accounting, auditing, budgets, taxes, and related activities. You'll prepare financial statements, forecasts, and analyses while maintaining all accounting records. You'll also play a pivotal role in supervising the staffing, scheduling, training, and professional development of department members.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Director of Accounting - Country Club


  • Develop policies and procedures for accounting, auditing, budgets, cost control, payroll, taxes, and related financial activities
  • Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts in coordination with various departments
  • Manage financial aspects of major capital improvement projects
  • Generate monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, statistical analyses, and accounting reports
  • Monitor expenditures and advise management on budget variances
  • Conduct internal auditing programs to protect company assets
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure procedures align with company policies
  • Oversee various inventory checks for beverages, food, supplies, merchandise, equipment, furnishings, etc.
  • Ensure all cash and receipts are collected and bank deposits are made. Perform daily reconciliation of revenues, tax liabilities, cost of goods sold, cash, and charge receipts
  • Administer petty cash and operating cash funds
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Maintain current insurance policies, business licenses, liquor licenses, and certificates of operation
  • Interact professionally with clients, municipal officials, community organizations, and co-workers
  • Ensure timely submission of all required operational, financial, and budgetary reports
  • Perform other duties as appropriate


Qualifications: Director of Accounting - Country Club


  • College degree with an emphasis on accounting or finance preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial control, including supervisory or management experience
  • Proficiency with Jonas Club Accounting software is highly recommended
  • Demonstrated skills in budget development, fiscal management, and strategic planning
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, handle multiple duties efficiently under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations
